Carnival Unveils Extensive New Dining, Bar Experiences
Carnival Cruise Line is set to significantly elevate its onboard culinary landscape with a new initiative dubbed “The Next Course,” introducing an array of new dining and bar experiences across its fleet. This comprehensive expansion aims to refresh the cruise dining experience, reflecting evolving guest preferences and enhancing variety for travelers.
What Happened
Unveiled on June 11, 2026, “The Next Course” will bring a host of new restaurants, bars, and menu updates, with the first major additions debuting on the upcoming Carnival Festivale in May 2027, followed by Carnival Tropicale in 2028. These Excel-class ships will feature several headline additions, including Emeril’s Coastal Seafood, a specialty restaurant with a menu crafted by Carnival Chief Culinary Officer Emeril Lagasse. Additionally, new concepts like Uku Lei Lei will focus on Hawaiian and Asian-inspired dishes, while Fetaccine will offer a delightful blend of Italian and Greek flavors.
Carnival Festivale will also exclusively host Le Bistro Musicale, a French restaurant combining classic French cuisine with live music in a Parisian-inspired ambiance. Beyond dining, new bar concepts such as The Spark, featuring live performances and song-inspired cocktails, and Mix, allowing guests to customize their beverages, are planned. Festival Grounds Coffee & Bar will cater to specialty coffee and cocktail enthusiasts throughout the day, ensuring diverse options for all tastes.
The initiative also includes new casual dining concepts like Sunsation Point BBQ, serving smoked meats in the ship’s family activity zone, and updated main dining experiences. Far East Eats will replace ChiBang! with an expanded array of Asian cuisines, and La Cucina Italiana will eventually succeed Cucina del Capitano on future newbuilds, focusing on regional Italian specialties. These changes, as noted by Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy, are designed to build upon existing guest favorites while introducing fresh options and diverse flavors across the fleet.
Why It Matters for Travelers
For travelers, “The Next Course” signals a significant upgrade to the overall cruise experience, offering more diverse and high-quality dining choices. The introduction of new specialty restaurants and revamped casual options means guests will have an even broader culinary journey to explore, catering to different tastes and preferences throughout their voyage. Enhanced flexibility in the Main Dining Room, with new breakfast, brunch, and Express Dining options, will allow guests to tailor their meal experiences to their schedule, whether they prefer a leisurely multi-course dinner or a quicker bite.
Families, in particular, will benefit from the new kid-focused menus at Lido Marketplace and rotating specials at BlueIguana Cantina, ensuring that younger travelers also have exciting and varied options. The expansion of grab-and-go offerings and pop-up venues, coupled with improved mobile ordering capabilities, aims to enhance convenience and reduce wait times, allowing guests more time to enjoy other ship amenities and activities.
What to Expect Next
Travelers can anticipate a gradual rollout of these dining enhancements, beginning with Carnival Festivale in 2027 and continuing with Carnival Tropicale in 2028, and progressively across the wider fleet. As these new ships debut, more specific details on menus, pricing for specialty venues, and operational schedules will likely be released. Guests on existing Carnival ships should look forward to updated Main Dining Room menus and increased casual dining flexibility as fleet-wide changes are implemented.
